"Do I look stupid?" snarled Uncle Vernon, a bit of fried egg dangling from his bushy mustache. (Wednesday, June 24, 2009)
There isn’t anything to post about, but I like writing crap.

H1N1- FOA rehearsals cancelled! I realised that I can’t remember some SYF step combos already so I went to the dance blog and revised. Yay. H1N1 makes me scared to go out; but it’s not like I have any trouble staying at home all the time. And students that visited affected countries actually have LOA of seven days from 22 June. Anyway I don’t know why people are so worked up over MOH/MOE’s decision not to let students have an extra week of holidays.

Yeah, I want it too and I understand that the start of the new school terms will probably bring about more cases, because everyday, you get 800 kids (or a lot more) in the same quadrangle/parade square/assembly point, plus teachers and admin staff etc. (My God, I’m not going to open my mouth during morning assembly, hah!) The number of cases will undeniably spike up with many students and staff having gone to affected countries and the possibility of them being carriers. (WHO estimates that one-third of any population will be affected, which means that for Singapore, there’s a possibility of one million being affected :O)

However, I suppose this is Singapore’s change from containment phase to mitigation. Prevention may be better than cure and I think many are sticking with that idiom. Be it because we want an extra week of holidays or whether we’re genuinely concerned with the spread of the H1N1 virus. People are bound to get infected anyway, with or without school; with or without home quarantine orders because we have such enriching social lives, we go out everyday. So what’s the point? It’s not as if you’re hiding in one corner of your house, wearing face masks and stuffing your mouth with Vitamins Cs.

I would probably sing a different song if I were to get infected though. (TOUCH WOOD!) and yes, I know I’m rather contradictory to myself.

On with the quest to conquer Chinese SIA, wish me luck.

I did not do much this week but Chinese SIA. Hipchip Pomunk went to the Flyer to find her flying squirrel roots and the Science Centre though. I went to the NSC on Monday.

School is starting soon, and this month seems to run by us faster than the Cullen family or Prof. Snape’s reflexes.
