Back from Korea! (Thursday, December 18, 2008)
Warning: Extremely long and detailed post ahead.I'm back from Korea, sadly. Day 1- Shopping& Mt. Namsan. Touched down in Seoul in the morning, checked in and all that. Ate Japanese curry rice for lunch. Headed to Namdaemun Market but it's actually more suitable for the locals because it's completely necessary to bargain and haggle because the shop owners will name some crazy price when they find out that you're a tourist. So we headed over to Myeong-dong which was more tourist-friendly. Really nice accessories/keychains stuff. Bought a giraffe one. And there's this really cool cleanser/make-up brand called Etude House and the store's all pink and kawaii :D http://www.etudehouse.com/gate.html After shopping for awhile we went to Mt.Namsan which is actually more like a hill. Took cable car up. Hung around at the peak for the scenery then went to eat Mcdonalds, lol. Everyone was tired and they wanted to eat in the hotel and watch telly mah. Day 2- YongPyong Ski Resort. Took a 2h 30 min bus ride to YongPyong Ski Resort. Even though we already tried skiing, must get orientation first, haha. So we spent like the very precious 2 hours we had to ski, walking up half the ski slope because no one could go down with the ski lift. But had super fun skiing. Day 3- YongPyong Ski Resort with ski lifts! We went down the 508m long ski slope with the ski lift that day! Whole day of skiing basically. Day 4- Mountain peak & back to Seoul. We went up in the gondola to the mountain peak and the snow there was fantastic :D It was all powdery like the Hokkaido type. Anyway, 3h bus ride back to Seoul, sadsadsadsadsadsad. I WANT TO SKI. Went to Coex Mall for dinner. Walked past this sweet shop and bought jelly beans. SG is seriously limited, even in jellybean flavours. The shop had so many flavours, toasted marshmallow, strawberry cheesecake, dark chocolate, watermelon, cherry... But was quite expensive lorh. 3.17 SG dollars, I think, for 100g. Day 5- Cultural Experience (planned by me!) First, went to Jongmyo Shrine. Then to Insa-dong which had super lovely Korean-oriented souvenirs like pouches/keychains/handphone accessories. Bought a nice pouch and a glow in the dark keychain. Then went to the Changdeokgung Palace. After that, headed to Dongdaemun which had many departmental stores. And inside were many like makeshift stalls and the stuff there were pretty cool but all winter wear. So we couldn't buy anything, even the shorts were woollen. I wanted earrings but all of them were dangly and I only wear stud type. Day 6- Lotte World ♥ Indoor/outdoor amusement park. There was this brilliant ride called Atlantis which was bloody cool and fast. See: http://www.coasterforce.com/Atlantis_Adventure and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlSbhPPvhr4&feature=related. Also did the Gyro Drop. See: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPh4uSv1dpA And many many many more rides but these were the best :DD Day 7- Shopping/Singapore Trip to Coex Mall for a pick-up of a very special bag and last minute scouting for souvenirs. Then discovered a super-cute-but-not-overly-pink brand called ArtBox. Got a super duper uber lovely wallet and a pencil case with a comic pattern that says NO FUN WITHOUT PANDA, haha. And there's a branch in AMK hub in SG, I just realised! Yay! Anyway, came back to Singapore, sadly. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Watched Madagascar 2 :D Yes, finally. ![]() Alex, Marty, Melman, Gloria, King Julien, Maurice and the penguins and the chimps find themselves marooned on the distant shores of Madagascar. In the face of this obstacle, the New Yorkers have hatched a plan so crazy it just might work. With military precision, the penguins have repaired an old crashed plane—sort of. Once aloft, this unlikely crew stays airborne just long enough to make it to the wildest place of all--the vast plains of Africa, where the members of our zoo-raised crew encounter species of their own kind for the very first time. Africa seems like a great place--but is it better than their Central Park home? Disclamer alert! In the middle of the movie (where Melvin was going to be sacrificed) the movie suddenly stopped, I think the movie guy thought the movie was supposed to be over. So the whole thing was super anti-climax and one baby started crying, haha. Anyway, the movie resumed and we only waited like for most 1 minute? Then when everybody walked out of the cinema they gave everyone a complimentary pass for their next movie. That means I have have a free movie :DDD |
